When Canadian Founders Leave, We Lose More than Talent

Great Canadian startups have access to the venture capital funding they need to grow and build. That's the good news.

However, too many tech founders are leaving, resulting in a sharp decrease of Canadian-based high potential startups.

I shared this message with the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry and Technology, where we discussed how to strengthen Canada’s startup ecosystem.

When our top founders build elsewhere, we don’t just lose talent. We lose the benefit of the companies, jobs, and wealth they create.

Those outcomes still happen — just not here.

We have an opportunity for new policies that incentivize our founders to stay.
