Sustainability as Wealth Creation

In Canada, we need to broaden our thinking about sustainability from a focus on the environment to a wider focus on the sustainability of the way of life that is cherished by Canadians.

To continue to deliver the the programs (healthcare, education, social services, transportation, etc.) and quality of life Canadians cherish, we have to create the wealth that funds them.

That was my message to the House of Commons Industry Committee:

Measure government investment by their impact on productivity and prosperity.

We need policies and behaviours that incentivize risk taking, business formation, and economic expansion, so that we grow the pie.
